For many family law solicitors, it can be a costly, time-consuming process when dealing directly with litigants in person, especially when there is no available legal aid. It is also common for solicitors to be protective of their role and refuse to engage with the McKenzie Friend to achieve a resolution to the case at hand. This is totally counterproductive and probably increases the amount of court time required to reach a resolution.
